KSA joins ICH Intergovernmental Committee:
Already part of the Executive Board as well as the World Heritage Committee, Saudi Arabia complements its efforts protecting cultural heritage by joining the Intangible Cultural Heritage Intergovernmental Committee, joining 20 other states that enforce the 5 C’s (Credibility, Conservation, Capacity-building, Communication, and Communities) which help the world move forward while cherishing its roots.
“There’s so much human factor attached to it,” explains HH Princess Haifa Al Mogrin, Saudi Permanent Delegate to UNESCO in this video.
Al-Qatt Al-Asiri is one fine example of Saudi Arabia’s little-known, yet highly varied, intangible cultural heritage. The interior decorative art form was developed by women in Asir, and remains a pillar of the region’s visual identity and tastes today.
