{"id":2698,"date":"2020-07-13T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-07-13T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ksaforunesco.org\/209th-session-of-unescos-executive-board\/"},"modified":"2020-07-15T08:29:36","modified_gmt":"2020-07-15T08:29:36","slug":"209th-session-of-unescos-executive-board","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ksaforunesco.org\/es\/209th-session-of-unescos-executive-board\/","title":{"rendered":"209th Session of UNESCO\u2019s Executive Board"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 58 Member States of the UNESCO Executive Board met in Paris this month to tackle the pressing issues of Culture, Education, the Sciences and more, given the urgency imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saudi Arabia was represented at this session by HH Princess Haifa Al Mogrin, Permanent Delegate of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to UNESCO, and a team of 26 Saudi experts in the field of education, culture, energy, environment and training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In her speech, HH Princess Haifa Al Mogrin stressed the importance of the meeting as \u201cvital\u201d to understanding and governing the issues that will define the future of humanity: culture, education, and the sciences.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"entry-content-asset\"><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Last week, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/SaudiArabia?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#SaudiArabia<\/a> took part in <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/UNESCO?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@UNESCO<\/a>&#39;s 209th Executive Board session, with Permanent Delegate HH Princess <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HaifaAlMogrin?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@HaifaAlMogrin<\/a> praising the International community for its continued support to education, culture and science in these times affected by the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/Covid19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Covid19<\/a> pandemic. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6LsNFuO0nA\">pic.twitter.com\/6LsNFuO0nA<\/a><\/p>&mdash; KSA Mission UNESCO (@KSAForUNESCO) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KSAForUNESCO\/status\/1281517734984024064?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 10, 2020<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to highlighting the Kingdom\u2019s continued support to African countries, the Permanent Delegate reminded of how such unprecedented conditions do not affect the Kingdom\u2019s core beliefs: striving for more bridges between cultures, a key driver to building a smaller, safer world that favors innovation and development.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All in all, over 100 Saudi initiatives have bolstered collaboration across a range of sectors to combat the effects of the pandemic: from fighting Covid19 by raising funds and understanding its genetic sequencing, to protecting the arts and education through digital platforms, e-learning learning for millions of students and virtual reality immersive experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"entry-content-asset\"><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Saudi Permanent Delegate to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/UNESCO?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@UNESCO<\/a>, HH Princess <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HaifaAlMogrin?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@HaifaAlMogrin<\/a>, addresses the 209th Executive Board. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/st0ekSE9kr\">pic.twitter.com\/st0ekSE9kr<\/a><\/p>&mdash; KSA Mission UNESCO (@KSAForUNESCO) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KSAForUNESCO\/status\/1280167463045521408?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 6, 2020<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HH Princess Haifa Al Mogrin assured her peers that Saudi Arabia is fully committed to sharing its knowledge and experience with the rest of the world, for the benefit of all. Such multilateral approaches, aimed at building bridges between countries, are also an integral part of the actions tackled by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as holder of the G20 Presidency in 2020. She namely pointed out the Kingdom\u2019s support for international growth and stability, specifically with regard to ensuring the continuity of education in crises and striving to achieve climate change mitigation and adaptation worldwide, as well as showing solidarity in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While reminding that \u201ceducation is a right for all\u201d and applauding the important work on human development accomplished by UNESCO through education, HH Princess Haifa Al Mogrin ended her speech with unifying and inspiring words: \u201cPeace has to be built where it starts, in the minds of men and women.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The Kingdom\u2019s participation in the meetings of the UNESCO Executive Council also comes as part of its permanent presence in the international cultural and educational organization since its foundation in 1946.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Find more information on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.unesco.org\/executiveboard\/currentsession\">UNESCO&#8217;s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The 58 Member States of the UNESCO Executive Board met in Paris this month to tackle the pressing issues of Culture, Education, the Sciences and more, given the urgency imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
